Root and Buttler up in rankings

England’s encouraging performances in the first three games of the Royal London One-Day Series have resulted in several players moving up the ICC Rankings.

Despite suffering losses at the Kia Oval and the Ageas Bowl, a record-breaking win at Edgbaston has seen Joe Root and Jos Buttler shoot up the standings, after starring in the 210-run win.

Jamie Overton to replace Plunkett

Somerset pace bowler Jamie Overton has been called up to the England one-day international squad for the remaining two matches in the five-match Royal London One-Day Series against New Zealand. Overton replaces Liam Plunkett who has been ruled out with a thigh strain.

Overton joins his twin Craig Overton in the squad. The 21-year-old brothers are both uncapped at England level.

New Zealand lead the series 2-1 with the next match at Trent Bridge on Wednesday before the series concludes at the Emirates Durham ICG on Saturday.
