Finn impresses as England dominate

Steven Finn led from the front as England made the most of their full day in the field by taking 12 Pakistan A wickets while restricting their hosts to just 192 runs in Sharjah.

Finn’s opening burst set the tone, the tall fast bowler ending his first spell with excellent figures of 7-5-2-2.

The 26-year-old finished with 4-16 off his 15 overs, while Adil Rashid took three wickets and Liam Plunkett and Samit Patel marked their first action of the tour with two apiece.

Signs of progress at Leicestershire

Despite finishing bottom of LV= County Championship Division Two for the third year in succession, Leicestershire finally shrugged a monkey off their back in 2015.

The Foxes, under the new stewardship of Wasim Khan MBE, Andrew McDonald and Mark Cosgrove, saw their winless streak in the Championship extend to 37 matches, a sequence dating back to September 2012, after losing three and drawing two of their opening five fixtures.

England enthused after first warm-up game

England have taken significant encouragement from their opening warm-up match in the United Arab Emirates with seamer Mark Wood describing it as “perfect preparation” for next week’s first Test against Pakistan.

England will face a vastly different task to the one presented by Australia in the summer and were given a stark reminder of the patience and graft required in searing heat on the final day of the drawn two-day match.
