Broad returns to top 10

Stuart Broad has moved back into the top 10 in the Test bowling rankings following the Ashes opener at Brisbane.

The 27-year-old paceman was England’s biggest mover as he jumped four places to seventh after returning figures of 6-81 and 2-55 at the Gabba, while Chris Tremlett made a return to the bowling rankings in 32nd place.

Mitchell Johnson, the star of Australia’s 381-run win, climbed back into the top 20 following impressive returns of 4-61 and 5-42, for which he was rewarded with a move of four places to 19th.

Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon, meanwhile, moved three spots up the rankings to 18th position.

In the batting rankings Australia captain Michael Clarke moved up a place to fourth after hitting his 25th Test hundred with 113 in the second innings, while England skipper Alastair Cook moved up one spot to 10th thanks to his second-innings 65.

Australia opening batsman David Warner made a massive jump of 18 places to 17th as he broke into the top 20 for the first time in his career after his impressive 124 in the second innings.
