The England Women’s Academy winter training squad has been named and comprises 12 players who have consistently delivered strong performances in domestic cricket.
The winter training programme will be based at the National Cricket Performance Centre (NCPC) and will be led once more by Head Coach Lisa Keightley.
Additional specialist coaches and sport science and medicine specialists will ensure that the training environment mirrors the England Women’s environment so as to optimally prepare players for the transition upwards if selected.
The winter programme will comprise seven camps in total.
“There has never been a more exciting time to be part of the England Women’s Academy Programme,” said Clare Connor, Head of Women’s Cricket.
“With wins against full international touring teams from Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the last year and a tour to the sub-continent on the horizon for early 2014, the England Women’s Academy Programme continues to go from strength to strength.
“The programme provides a world-class training environment and international exposure for players with the aspiration and commitment to get into the England squad.”
