Middlebrook claims award hat-trick

Departing all-rounder James Middlebrook claimed a hat-trick of honours at Northamptonshire’s end-of-season awards last night.

The 37-year-old was named the club’s LV= County Championship player of the year and media player of the year while also winning the players’ player title.

Middlebrook has not been offered a new deal next season and his successes came on an emotional night as he was one of four departing players who were honoured for their service at Wantage Road.

David Sales, Andrew Hall and Matthew Spriegel will also follow Middlebrook out of the club after a season in which they finished bottom of Division One without a win.

James Middlebrook was Northamptonshire's leading championship runscorer this season with 825 at an average of 27.50

New signing Adam Rossington offered an insight into the future following his mid-season arrival on loan from Middlesex and picked up the young player of the year award.

The 21-year-old signed a permanent contract today to remain for another two years.

Steven Crook was named Twenty20 player of the year while the Royal London One Day player of the year was awarded to Richard Levi.

Saif Zaib was named the Academy player of the year.
