Middlesex return to summit after draw

Middlesex moved back to the top of LV= County Championship Division One after rain prevented Durham’s push for a final-day victory at the Emirates Durham ICG.
Yorkshire leapfrogged Chris Rogers’ side yesterday courtesy of a crushing win over Northamptonshire at Wantage Road, but the draw ensures Middlesex regain their position at the top.
The visitors, following on and still 148 runs behind, were due to resume on 90 for two but the wet weather prevented play starting and the umpires called off the match at 1.30pm.
It was the second successive week that both sides suffered a final-day washout, meaning defending champions Durham have now drawn six of their opening seven matches and have yet to register a win.
